Public Declaration of Faith is the act of declaring that you are ready to follow Jesus with everything you have. It is an announcement to the world that you have accepted Jesus Christ into your life and into your heart.
Public declaration of faith is a vital part of the journey to full life in Jesus Christ. It is not a requirement for salvation, but it is an act of obedience and declaration of life change. We encourage everyone who has put their faith in Jesus to join in this celebration. It serves two purposes. First, it strengthens the faith community because it displays God’s activity in people’s lives. It also solidifies a new believer’s commitment by making their statement public (Acts 2:41). This was true for the early chruch. It's true for us today.
In the Book of Acts, people who put their faith in Jesus Christ followed up that act by publicly expressing their faith. They did this by being baptized and telling others about how Jesus had changed their hearts. They professed that Jesus was their Savior. Either baptism or profession of faith served as public declaration of the new believer's relationship with Jesus.
We also think it is important to be aware of what a life following Jesus means before making that committment. To that end, we have designed a learning experience to help new believers walk through the basics of faith, theology and the Biblical teachings on the core elements of a Christ follower’s life before you make public declaration of faith.
